At the end of every year we love to take a look back at some of the amazing trips we've planned for our clients, and this year there have been some absolute stonkers. We're talking intrepid honeymoons, adventurous sabbaticals, secret beach breaks, fun-filled family getaways, cultural escapades and much, much more. We've sent people to over 100 countries so far this year (104, to be precise) and here are just a few of our favourites...
A family tour to California
As far as family holidays go, we think our client's recent trip to California was up there with the best of the best. The family started their journey in San Francisco where they were able to explore the largest Chinatown outside of Asia, visit the infamous Alcatraz and enjoy the intricate street murals at The Mission. After a couple of days in the city, they headed to Monterey for whale watching and surfing lessons. It was then time to relax in San Diego where they could enjoy wandering through Balboa Park's zoo, museums and gardens. The perfect family holiday to keep everyone entertained - whatever their age.
Riding Safari in Botswana
Our clients got up close and personal on a riding safari in Botswana. They actually began their trip in South Africa, enjoying the gourmet food & fine wine of Cape Town & the nearby Winelands, before being transferred to the Okavango Delta. The river delta spills into a section of the Kalahari Desert giving rise to an extraordinary landscape filled with wildlife. Rising early for the best game viewing they headed out on morning rides on the beautifully kept horses. After enjoying a huge variety of wildlife from big game to birds, with an entirely different viewpoint from being in a vehicle, it was back to the camp for siestas and sunset cocktails.
A Wedding in Japan
We sent one intrepid couple to Japan for their big day. Arriving into Tokyo, they spent their first couple of nights in the buzzing capital, where they enjoyed a guided tour of the city, the fascinating tuna auction and the shopping districts of Shibuya. After the madness of the city, they headed to the Izu peninsula for their marriage blessing. We organised a ceremony on a traditional stage on the water, where the bride arrives via boat as the groom waits among the echo of drums and the sound of flutes. With traditional dress, a hairstylist on hand, chief priest and shrine maiden to oversee the ceremony and a photographer to capture the all-important moments, it was the ultimate wedding with a difference. After the ceremony, the trips swan song was a week's honeymooning in total relaxation, including a stay at the wonderful Amanemu on the east coast.
A Norway & Iceland combo
Serious adventure was the name of the game, in our clients' trip to the rugged & raw Iceland and Norway. With no rest for the wicked, it was straight into a Northern Lights safari to search for the illusive Aurora Borealis. After a four hour tour (and a great night's sleep), the group headed to Iceland's most famous destination, the Golden Circle, where they spent time visiting farms, speaking to locals and trying Icelandic delicacies. En route to the airport they enjoyed a relaxing stop off at the Blue Lagoon before they flew onto Norway. Northern Norway is great for husky dog-sledding, add in a sea safari and ice fishing for an amazing and very 'cool' combo holiday.
Jordan & Israel exploration
Some of our clients headed off on a month long trip combining Jordan and Israel. Beginning their trip in the capital of Jordan and one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, Amman, they then made their way to Jerusalem via some ancient sites such as the Roman wonder of Jerash and the magical rose-red Petra, which is seen at its best by a candle lit tour. There was more culture, history and scenery to be had in Israel with our clients exploring Tel Dan and Qasr al-Yahud which lies on the banks of the Jordan River before relaxing into the confident and creative city of Tel Aviv to end their trip on a high.
