Constance Halaveli, Maldives The new Constance Halaveli has villas either on stilts in a beautiful lagoon or on the pristine beach. All the villas have their own plunge pools and a terrace or balcony with an outdoor shower. The three restaurants and the spa ensure that both the body and mind are well cared for. The main restaurant, Jahaz, specialises in the best of international cuisine, while Jing serves East/West fusion cuisine in a room over the water.

I was lucky enough to spend a week at the fabulous Six Senses Laamu in the Maldives last year, and loved it so much I am going back this year! It really is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. The island itself is stunning; the villas are, quite frankly, jaw-dropping, the food delicious and the staff excellent, but there is also such a vast array of things to do here that even the most reluctant of beach bums will find plenty to keep them occupied.

Just back from a deliciously relaxing week in the Maldives, escaping from the maelstrom of three children under the age of three. My wife and I stayed at Soneva Fushi for a thoroughly spoiling second time and while one probably shouldn't have favourites in my line of business, I would say it's - by far - my favourite hotel in the world. Perfect to relax Make no mistake, Soneva Fushi Maldives is not for everyone, but for me (and far more importantly, my exhausted wife) the sense of relaxation that overwhelms one almost immediately on arrival is magical.
