What you can find in Zimbabwe that you won't find anywhere else?
Zimbabwe is such a fantastic safari destination because it is one of the few countries in Africa in which you are allowed to walk in the National Parks; a great bonus as despite the problems it has suffered in the last few years the wildlife and birdlife remains prolific. In Hwange and Mana Pools there are huge elephant herds, great concentrations of buffaloes, lions and all the other wildlife you might expect. The safari camps, many of which have been recently refurbished, are small and intimate and hosted by charming, friendly people who welcome you to an authentic African and bush experience with no unnecessary frills but heaps of charm and comfort. If you can possibly make time, also try to visit the Great Zimbabwe ruins (in Shona, the word 'Zimbabwe' means 'stone house'). The impressive stone walls - many of which are still standing today - were the capital of the Mutapa Empire which spanned hundreds of thousands of square miles in the 16th century, encompassing parts of present-day Mozambique, Zambia and South Africa.

The holiday activities to be found are equally memorable, from the adrenaline pumping diversions at Victoria Falls with helicopter flights, white water rafting and bungee jumping to walking safaris in Hwange and additionally, canoe safaris and fishing on the Lower Zambezi.
