Kempinski Ishtar Dead Sea
All rooms and suites face the Dead Sea and have a spacious outdoor balcony, terrace or veranda.
They are divided between the main hotel, which is housed in a stylish Arabesque building, and the Ishtar Villas - a boutique resort offering a more luxurious stay. The resort is set in gardens dotted with lagoons, waterfalls, olive trees and bamboo palms.
The centrepiece is the Anantara Spa, one of the leading spas in the Middle East, which offers a variety of treatments using the mineral-loaded Dead Sea water and mud, as well as Ayurvedic therapies, a hammam and an ice cave.
Other facilities include a state-of-the-art gym, a tennis court, cinema, bowling alley and a kids' club. The resort has nine freshwater pools, including two secluded pools, one kids' pool and a 'lazy river'. On the beach there are private tented pergolas fitted with individual music systems where you can relax with an iced drink and enjoy the beautiful views of the Dead Sea.

Our Seven Favourite Wadis in Jordan
If you’re reading this, it’s likely you already know what a 'wadi' is, but for those in the dark, it roughly translates from Arabic as ‘valley’. While planning your Jordanian holiday, you’re probably also already aware that the country is 75% desert, but that fact blew our minds so much, we just had to write it down. Spotlight on Jordan: Lawrence of Arabia turns 50
It is the 50th Anniversary of the epic classic Lawrence of Arabia. I remember first watching it and it was quite a defining moment; the desert, the stars, the epic horse and camel battles. It was also thanks to Lawrence that I was initially persuaded to visit Jordan. Lawrence or Faisel...? I couldn't decide who I fancied more - Lawrence or Faisel... Or rather Peter O'Toole or Omar Sheriff. In the end I went for Omar - resonate with that intoxicating aura of Middle Eastern mystery and manliness.
