The Conrad Algarve: A Hotel Review

The Conrad Algarve: A Hotel Review

We all know that during the summer months the Algarve is pretty hot, but things just got hotter in Quinta Do Lago.

Queue drum roll please...

This hotel opened in October 2012 and was voted in 2012 by the World Travel Awards the 'World's Leading New Resort', 'Europe's Leading New Resort' AND 'Portugal's Leading New resort'.

Allow me to introduce the Conrad Algarve...

So why is it so good? Well this newly built resort wowed me on every level. The rooms are a fantastic size, all with large private balconies equipped with an outdoor sofa, chairs and table, great mod cons, beautiful sheets, stunning marble bathrooms and did I mention they provide Aromatherapy products?! For those of you who don't know Aromatherapy is an extremely luxurious brand, only to be found in Space NK.

The spa has its own indoor and outdoor private pool area, sauna, relaxation area with mosaic heated lounge chairs, cushioned pods to relax in outside, your own private balcony outside the treatment rooms just to have a little down time (we all want to extend that spa treatment for as long as possible don't we?).

The facilities, in my opinion, are the best in the Algarve. Choose from a variety of pools, all set in gorgeous locations far away from each other to give you space but choice. The gym is an amazing size, with chilled water and fruit it is open 24 hours a day. Classes are all complimentary, I was particularly impressed with the rooftop yoga sessions and the private instructor on offer. There is a sports lounge offering food and drinks for those of you wanting to escape the sun, settle down on a comfy chair with a beer and watch Sky Sports. Then of course there is the complimentary shuttle to the stunning beach about 5 minutes down the road and to the golf courses in the surrounding area. I visited the beach later that week and I have to say it was a winner.

Now onto the food... I arrived at breakfast, what a mistake! The food looked so good, it was hard to concentrate on the rest of my tour after I got to see what the lucky guests got to scoff every morning. The hotel has a variety of restaurants to choose from, a noteworthy choice being 'Gusto' by Heinz Beck. YUM YUM YUM. I am going to have to stop there as my tummy is rumbling.

For the parents out there, the kids club here is awesome. Your children have a tailor made entertainment schedule that is based on the children's interest on a daily basis. As parents you are given an outline of what they could be doing on a daily basis and what they will need for the day, but activities include a treasure hunt around the resort, beach visits, pizza making, unlocking mystery objects and finding prizes and much much more. All of these activities are designed around the hotels own characters and story, the purpose is to give your children an ongoing plot that will unfold throughout the week, keeping your kids entertained. The kids club even has a special food menu that is designed by children and their parents so you can relax in the knowledge your child will also be enjoying the hotels gourmet treats.
