Japamala Resort Tioman Island

The boutique resort of Japamala on Tioman Island invites guests to relax in an idyllic jungle setting. Wooden villas and cliff-clinging chalets are scattered across the resort's scenic landscape, promising a nature-rich retreat.

JapaMala's rooms are referred to as 'Sarangs', meaning 'nests' in Malay, emphasising the back-to-nature feel of the resort. Guests can hibernate in Treetop Chalets where the sounds of the jungle abound, escape to Seacliff Villas with mesmerising views of the South China Sea, or retreat to Jungle and Hillside Sarangs with the rainforest as their backdrop. Each suite has a private shower room and the Jungle Sarangs are adorned with open-air bath tubs, while the Hillside suites have luxury plunge pools. The bamboo blinds, soft lighting and warm colours of the rooms work together to create snug havens of luxury and serenity.

There are two main restaurants at Japamala Resort - an overwater Italian restaurant and Tamarind Tioman, nestled in the rainforest and serving Asian cuisine. If guests are looking for an alternative option, Japamala offers tailor made dining experiences in any location that visitors may choose.

The Resort's Samadhi Spa is a peaceful paradise, using oils and products made from natural materials. Whether it's a manicure in a natural cave or a soak in the cliff-top hot tub, Samadhi Spa promises a therapeutic experience. For more active days, there are a variety of adventures on offer, such as jungle trekking to the sunset viewpoint, day and night dives, and boat excursions to a range of villages.

Why We Love It

In the mesmerising setting of jungle, beach and sea, guests can enjoy complementary Asian snacks at sunset and aromatic oil therapies at dusk.
