Boat Your Way Across Lake Pichola

There are so many things to do in Udaipur and so many ways to discover it, be that on wheels, feet, horseback or our personal favourite; by boat. You can watch the simplicity of life ebb and flow as you make your way through the freshwaters of Lake Pichola, on the border of Udaipur. Among its calm ripples (that stretch a staggering 2.5 miles long and 1.8 miles wide) lie four islands, brimming with colossal temples and palaces, confirming that a boat trip is the best and easiest way to appreciate Udaipur from a new perspective. We can organise this hour-long excursion, accompanied by a knowledgeable local guide, where you can spot and snap the City Palace that appears to be floating above the water. Afterwards, you’ll disembark and head out on foot with your guide, to explore the old city in all its glory.

Music has the innate ability to motivate, calm and inspire us, serving as the backdrop upon which we live our lives, and India is no exception when it comes to understanding and appreciating this. Music plays a pivotal role in life, religion and more here. It’s the expression of long-standing traditions and the artistic skills are passed down over the years. A master of this is musician Pandit Ram Krishna Bose, who is highly skilled in playing the Sitar, Santoor and Tabla. This is a must on the list of things to do in Udaipur, offering curious travellers an introduction to Indian classical music, which is then followed by a short voice recital and demonstrations on the Tabla and Sitar. An immersive experience that’s sure to reiterate the power that music holds within Indian culture, it will undoubtedly give you a new track to play on repeat, as you reminisce on a trip well spent.
