Amid the bustle of Seminyak, The Oberoi Bali is a quiet retreat, with luxurious guestrooms and villas scattered within fifteen acres of tropical gardens, just steps from the sweeping sandy beach of Seminyak.
Building regulations in Bali stipulate that hotels must be 'no higher than a palm tree', and whilst a few new hotels may have somewhat stretched their palm trees, The Oberoi plays by the rules, choosing instead to create a low lying, village style set up, which is both subtle, and luxurious.
Luxury Lanai Guestrooms offer sumptuous King Beds, lounge areas, and a private terrace accessed through floor to ceiling glass doors, which welcome a gentle ocean breeze. Sunken marble bathtubs and a pillow menu offer a little added indulgence.
Villas at The Oberoi Bali are quite simply huge, with four poster beds, sunken marble bathtubs, and private gardens with al fresco dining area. Some Villas also boast private swimming pools, but all feature the same luxurious amenities and technology including iPod docking station and LCD TV. The Royal Villa boasts separate Bedroom and Living Room cabanas and a private swimming pool fringed by fragrant frangipani trees.
Guests can dine at the open air pavilion Kura Kura restaurant, which is a fine dining destination serving a menu of both European and Indonesian dishes. The beachside Frangipani café overlooks the rolling waves of the Indian Ocean, and serves a menu of light bites, or retire to the Kayu Bar to enjoy a delicious cocktail or cool beer as the sunsets.
The luxurious spa at The Oberoi features private treatment rooms housed in traditional Balinese open-air pavilions, with views of the tropical gardens and lily ponds, where guests can enjoy a Balinese or Thai massage, or a host of other treatments, using all natural spa products.
Facilities at the hotel include a beachfront swimming pool, a tennis court, a natural stone ampitheatre, where traditional Balinese dance shows are performed twice weekly, and even a turtle sanctuary.
Watersports including scuba diving, surfing, snorkelling, windsurfing and fishing are all available locally, and hiking or river rafting trips can also be arranged with the help of the concierge team.
Why we love it
Set in 15 acres of tropical gardens, with accommodation in luxurious traditional Balinese style thatched villas, some with private pools.
