Bali’s rugged south-west coast is where coal black sands meet verdant green rice paddies, a region of traditional culture and values, and home to some serious surf. The stunning Soori Bali is a collection of modern pool villas, nestled in this quiet, unassuming corner of Bali.
The resort is made up of 15 Beach Pool Villas, 15 Ocean Pool Villas, eight Mountain Pool Villas, multi-bedroom residences, and a ten bedroom estate. The villas and residences are a combination of contemporary Asian architecture with traditional Balinese touches, and all have been designed to maximise the views of the paddy fields, or the beach and ocean. The décor is simple and elegant with crisp linens, sun decks and private pools.
There are three dining locations at this resort: Cotta, Ombak and the Reading Room. Cotta offers a menu of authentic Indonesian dishes for lunch and dinner each day. Breakfast is also taken at Cotta, whereupon guests can indulge in a tasting menu ranging from fresh fruits and pastries to Mexican style eggs, and Indonesian noodle dishes all served in compact portions to encourage variety. A menu of healthy juices, smoothies and wheatgrass shots are also available.
Ombak is the signature restaurant at Soori, offering beachfront, al fresco fine dining, where Western favourites are given a Balinese twist with a wonderfully inventive menu. Enjoy snacks and cocktails early evening at Ombak, with a front row seat to one of Bali's best sunsets, or reserve a table under the stars for a relaxed evening meal. For casual day dining, retire to the reading room, or retreat to the privacy of your villa, with in villa dining.
For a spot of pampering, the secluded sanctuary of Soori Spa is the place to go for treatments blending Asian healing techniques, with indulging beautifying remedies. The resort in general has a laid back vibe, whether you are lounging by the infinity swimming pool or taking a morning stroll along the beach. Yoga is also offered a few mornings each week, on the ocean front decking. Bliss.
Away from the tourist hordes, a stay at Soori Bali is all about exploration; witnessing a traditional ceremony in a local village, observing farmers tending to their rice harvests, or following the ancient coffee producing process from seed to cup. Soori Bali offers a menu of journeys, to ensure that guests can immerse themselves in Balinese life during their stay. Some will get you exploring by foot or cycle, through rice paddies, plantations, local villages and markets. Others will focus on Balinese music, dance and arts. Along with a number of quality bicycles, Soori Bali also have a small collection of Segway's, so those with good balance can try out this novel way of exploring!
The Soori Journeys are a wonderful way to explore - discover untouched Bali under foot and peddle power, enjoying a delicious picnic amid the tropical plantations and verdant rice fields midway through to refuel.
