Walk this Way: Walking Holidays

As we at Original Travel often shout about, it's not just about the destination but also how you get there - 'going on a journey' if you will. As it is International Walking Month we've been thinking about how dishy Levinson Wood is... no sorry we meant the simple pleasure of walking, of enjoying your surroundings and anticipating your arrival somewhere new. (Although if Lev doesn't inspire you to get walking we really have no hope.) But without wanting to sound like a clichéd reality show sometimes 'the journey' really is how you can most appreciate a new destination.

Zambian Walking Safari

For an authentic and truly memorable experience, Zambia is THE destination for walking safaris. Track animals on foot with our expert guides, who know South Luangwa like the back of their hands, to really get acquainted with the bush, on our 11 day itinerary.

Hill Trekking Sapa

Trek through the beautiful mountain scenery and remote hill tribe villages of Sapa with an English speaking guide. Our favourite walks are through the forests, due to the hundreds of species of native orchids that grow here and are perfect for all abilities.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

In small guided groups set out in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest to track a gorilla family. This is an extremely unique experience as it is one of the few places you can see these endangered species. Enroute look out for birds, butterflies and native trees on this scenic hike.

Moose Safari Sweden

Enter into the deep forest of Harads in Sweden from one of favourite hotels, The Treehotel, to search for moose in their natural habitat. These creatures are the largest land mammals in Europe and while you walk you can also look out for fox, reindeer and forest birds.

Tbilisi Walking Tour

Explore the capital of Georgia on this one day walking tour. Wander past famous landmarks, bohemian art galleries and quirky monuments as you discover the heart of the city. Enjoy the cafe culture and fabulous wine bars as you explore.

Art Tours of Mexico City

A walking tour of Mexico City art is a tour like no other. With many galleries dotted through the city you could spend hours wandering the streets especially as many of the buildings have been used as a canvas for beautiful street art.

Epirus & Meteora

The Vikos Gorge has to be some of Europe's most dramatic scenery and is superb trekking country. Walk through the mountain district over the beautiful arched bridges with river cascading below - you can even stop for a bit of wild swimming in the clear pools.

Torres del Paine National Park

Hikers in the Torres del Paine National Park will be rewarded with stunning views of the eponymous granite peaks, which come into their own at sunset. Look out for the native guanaco, flamingos and even pumas as you walk through these incredible landscapes.

Minitrekking on Perito Moreno Glacier

The Perito Moreno Glacier is a sprawling mass, over 30km in length and the noise of the ice calving off the face of the glacier is overwhelming. Reaching the river in special boats, strap on crampons and begin a 'minitrek' across the glacier to see ice formations, gullies and small lagoons.
