With resplendent red landscapes under bright blue skies, and panoramas that seem almost endless, the Flinders Ranges and Southern Outback are two of the most visually stunning and photogenic spots on earth. The largest mountain range in South Australia, the Flinders Ranges stretch over 265 miles in length, and boast some of the most diverse mountain terrain in the country. We can suggest the best ways to discover the hidden corners of these vast areas, be that on a stunning hiking trail or just watching the scenery slide majestically by from the Ghan train. The Ranges' most famous landmark, and a must-see spot,
is Wilpena Pound, a beautiful natural amphitheatre best seen from above on a scenic flight. We can even enlist the help of a photographic guide to help you capture it all.

For those who prefer to keep their feet on the ground, the four-day Arkaba Walk takes guests on a classic Aussie bush walk through the ranges. Thanks to the diversity of the scenery, and the added bonus of 600 million years of geological history, this is one of our favourite 'Great Walks of Australia' and will see trekkers sleeping in swag beds, stargazing far from any light pollution and dining on seriously good local bush cuisine.
It's hard to believe Adelaide is just five hours' drive away...
