Spend five days enjoying the best of bustling Athens and Spetses - the favourite island of Greece's glitterati - on this luxury Big Short Break.
We've booked you on an early morning flight from London to Athens, so you will arrive by early afternoon. Once you have collected your bags, you will hop into a taxi for the short ride to your city centre hotel.
After you have dropped off your bags you will meet your expert guide for an afternoon walking tour of the off-the-beaten-path highlights of the Greek capital. You will discover how the city is regenerating and becoming a creative hub as it rises like a phoenix from the post-Great Recession economic ashes. For dinner this evening, give our Concierge a call and they will secure you an elusive table at one of the best restaurants in town.
After breakfast this morning you will be privately transferred to Piraeus Port, where you will catch a hydrofoil to Spetses, otherwise known as 'the Island of Fragrances.' The water-based leg of your journey will take roughly an hour-and-a-half, so we recommend parking yourselves on the top deck and soaking up some vitamin D and sea air.
Once you've docked at Spetses, it's a ten-minute walk to your harbour-side hotel. We recommend spending the rest of your day exploring the charming cobbled streets of the town on foot and enjoying a frappe (Greek iced coffee) or two at a seafront taverna.
After a late breakfast this morning you will make your way to the harbour and board a private yacht for a full day private tour of the island.
As your crew raises mainsails and tacks, you will be able to muck in and help as much or as little as you like. Keep an eye out for the enormous villas of Greece's rich and famous as you circumnavigate the island and drop in on deserted bays and coves for a swim or a snorkel. You will enjoy lunch on deck and spend the afternoon exploring the rest of the island before making your way back to land for sundowners and dinner.
This morning you will learn the art of beekeeping with a professional apiarist. You will learn about the unique way bee populations organise themselves, how people in Greece have been making and using honey since before the Ancient Greeks, and - most importantly - how to extract delicious honey and honeycomb.
For dinner tonight, we recommend calling our impeccable Concierge again, and they will be able to recommend and book you a table at one of the best tavernas on the island.
After one last morning on Spetses, you will take a return hydrofoil back to Piraeus, where one of our team on the ground will transfer you to Athens airport in good time for your late afternoon flight home, arriving in London in the early evening.
