Poseidonion Grand Hotel

The Poseidonion Grand Hotel is a small slice of the French Riviera on the sophisticated Greek holiday island of Spetses, one of the four Saronic Islands sitting pretty off the southern coast of the Peloponnese.

The hotel now has 52 rooms and suites (in either the historic or modern wings) and offers an extremely appealing combination of Grande Dame elegance and the latest mod cons and contemporary touches.

This tasteful blending of styles continues in the public areas of the hotel with the main marble staircase making a Belle Epoque statement and a Wurlitzer jukebox in the lounge.

There is a choice of excellent restaurants at Poseidonion - the award winning On The Verandah and its talented chef, Stamatis Marmarinos, offer a journey into gastronomy with contemporary Greek cuisine influenced by traditional tastes and aromas of Spetses and the finest view on the island. The Library Brasserie is a relaxing, all-day lounge serving delicious light meals with influences from old Athenian cuisine. The new Bostani Farm to Table invites diners to an al fresco meal using freshly picked ingredients from the hotel's organic farm.

The Palms On The Verandah is the perfect place to sip a signature cocktail made by expert mixologists while enjoying spectacular sunsets over the Saronic Gulf.

For hotel-based R&R there is a lap pool that's ideal for cooling off in on hot summer's days, and a spa that also nods to Asian influences offering massages, facials and body treatments in a pretty garden setting.

Why we love it

As if confirmation were needed that the Poseidonion was the place to stay for well-to-do Greeks, Prince Nikolaos of Greece had his wedding reception here.
