A member of ‘The Leading Hotels of the World’ group, The Danai Beach Resort & Villas is a luxurious boutique hotel on Sithonia - the middle prong of the trident that makes up Halkidiki. Surrounded by beautiful gardens, pine forests, white sand beaches and turquoise sea, this part of the world is Greece at its very best.
There are 60 suites in total as well as six private villas dotted around the grounds and all with original art and stylish interiors. In addition, some of the top suites and all of the villas have their own private swimming pools.
The hotel has four restaurants; the Squirrel for al fresco fine dining overlooking the sea and featuring molecular gastronomy dishes by Executive Chef Vasilis Mouratidis; the Sea Horse Grill for lighter lunches and barbecued seafood and steaks for dinner; the Andromeda which has themed foodie nights throughout the week from Italian to French and Japanese; and the Pavilion, where breakfasts are served. Guests can also request to enjoy a romantic candle-lit dinner on the beach or in the extensive - 1,700 labels to be exact - wine cellar. On the subject of wine, the Sea Side Bar is somewhere to enjoy fine Greek or international wines, sundowner cocktails or a late night whisky. By day guests can order drinks, smoothies and snacks from their sun loungers.
As if that didn't all sound relaxing enough, the spa offers a range of treatments, both western and eastern and including everything from massages to reflexology and Pilates. The spa's sundeck is a particularly lovely place for a sunset massage and there's a sauna and hammam steam room.
More active pursuits include water sports from water skiing to windsurfing, tennis (on a court with floodlights for cooler evening games), mountain biking and golf, as well as sailing boat trips to explore the beautiful scenery of Halkidiki, and the fascinating monasteries of Mount Athos.
Danai Beach Resort & Villas also offers great facilities for families, including a complimentary crèche for children under four, and the Danai Kids Club for those aged between four and eleven. Babysitting is also available, and if travelling with children we advise booking all these services well in advance of travel.
Surrounded by such beautiful landscapes you may feel inspired to commit the scene to canvas or paper, which is fortunate, since the hotel has a resident art teacher.
