L'Hexagone (as France is affectionately known, thanks to its six-sided[ish] shape) has an awful lot to offer, but don't panic, it's right next door, so merits repeated visits. Paris is the obvious starting point, not least as it's a suitable launch pad for other French destinations by high speed train, but also because the city is a perfect distillation of all things Gallic character.
