Built over 150 years ago as the Samode royal family’s suburban house, the hotel stands as a reminder of the past, beautifully restored.
The hotel has a fantastic central location, standing as it does in the heart of the sprawling walled city of Jaipur. It is home to some fabulous frescoes and, with its large gardens, it is difficult to believe that from this sanctuary you can stroll out into one of the city's busiest streets.
The bedrooms are scattered around the rambling building and are superbly decorated, all with air conditioning and mini bars.
The main dining room serves traditional Rajasthani food as well as a mixture of Asian and European cuisine. Meals are also available at the poolside, garden and courtyard.
Facilities include a fitness room, steam room and an Ayurvedic massage centre.
Much-needed respite from the city, the hotel has a huge outdoor pool, one of Jaipur's finest and a draw in itself.
