Located just 15 minutes from the Temples of Angkor, whilst remaining within easy reach of the bars and restaurants of central Siem Reap, the Shinta Mani Angkor (formerly Shinta Mani Club) is a slick and comfortable base from which to explore.
The signature style of architect Bill Bensleys' design is cool and contemporary, with monochrome interiors and Angkor influenced artworks featured in all of the 39 guestrooms. Rooms envelope the black tiled swimming pool, fringed by palms and loungers. Some rooms offer direct pool access, though our favourites are the upper floor Deluxe rooms, for a little more privacy. All rooms are air-conditioned, and feature heavenly rain showers, TV's and iPod docking stations - your own little sanctuary.
Kroya Restaurant offers a skilled blend of international dishes with local produce and native herbs and spices. The Khmer Tasting Menu is not to be missed, to sample authentic, seasonal dishes. Kroya is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with the choice of indoor AC seating, or al fresco dining. There is no better way to start the day than to enjoy breakfast on one of Kroya's Khmer swings! Private and group Khmer cookery classes are also on offer. Pre-dinner drinking spots include the chic Bensley's Bar on the second floor, and the relaxed Pool bar, which serves innovative cocktails, and light snacks throughout the day.
After a full days sightseeing retreat to the Shinta Mani Spa, which offers one spa suite, and three double treatment rooms. Choose from a range of massages, body treatments and facials, with a focus on Cambodian ingredients and techniques - the signature Khmer Coffee scrub combines white clay and coffee beans from the Rattanakiri province.
Shinta Mani strongly supports responsible tourism through their Shinta Mani Foundation. A stay here assists the on-site hospitality training school for the less fortunate and disadvantaged children in the local community, with a percentage of the daily room rate going to the foundation to support their activities. Guests can visit the Development Centre or speak to staff about how they can make a difference.
Stylish, intimate and with a wealth of keen-to-please staff, Shinta Mani Angkor is a fantastic base for your time in Siem Reap.
