Perched on the shores of tranquil Koggala Lake, just a short drive from historic Galle, Tri is a unique offering in Sri Lanka – a contemporary sustainable design hotel, if you will. The resort is built entirely from local materials, water is heated by solar power, and the buildings even have ‘living walls’ to camouflage themselves in the jungle setting.
And that's exactly what guests of Tri will revel in - the chance to tuck themselves away in a retreat focused on health and wellness. There are just eleven modern guestrooms and suites at Tri, with king beds and ensuite shower rooms. The Water Tower Rooms are situated within the central tower at Tri, which also houses a viewing deck, whilst for those who relish a little more space, the Lake Suites offer an additional living area with day bed, and a south-facing lake view terrace. Lake Villas are larger again, one with the addition of a private plunge pool, whilst the Family Villa offers two bedrooms, a plunge pool and a private garden. Finally, the signature Tri Villa is the ultimate retreat, with 1500sqft of luxurious, contemporary living space, and private plunge pool.
Those without private plunge pools should worry not, as the stunning cantilevered swimming pool at Tri stretches out towards the lake shore, seemingly melting into the gentle ripples of Koggala lake. Tri also boasts a luxurious basement spa, with a steam cavern, and an open-sided Yoga Shala, with treetop canopy views. Tri also hosts retreats and workshops throughout the year, focusing on subjects including nutrition, yoga, sustainability and photography. Dining at Tri follows an equally health-conscious approach, using fresh, seasonal produce, and is served in the lake view dining room.
Guests at Tri can join yoga and meditation sessions, kayak the placid waters of the lake, or explore the surrounding Sri Lankan countryside by bicycle. The coast is just a short drive from the hotel and Historic Galle Fort is within easy reach too which makes for an atmospheric half day of wandering. Guests can also pay visit to ancient sites including Kathaluwa temple.
The team behind Tri were inspired by the spirals of the Fibonacci Sequence, mirroring nature's 'Golden Ratio', however the hotel has earned its moniker more so in our view, for completing the holy holiday trinity of coast, countryside and culture in one hit.
Tri is a unique, contemporary Eco retreat, which is sure to leave guests feeling wholesome inside, and out.
