"This is the first trip we have ever taken where we have been looked after so comprehensively by everyone involved. It was so helpful to have all the information we needed accessible on an app, and wonderful not to have to worry about checking in for flights. We enjoyed great service at both the airports and hotels, which had great staff and fantastic food, and our guide David and driver Mohammed were excellent throughout and made our two-week trip really special."

"Our trip for 10 was a true bucket list holiday. The boat, a traditional dahabiya called Lazuli, was heavenly and exceeded our expectations. It was the most exquisite way to cruise down the Nile, with comfortable cabins, beautiful views, an amazing crew and delicious food - we dined like Pharaohs! We stopped to see many wondrous sites along the Nile, and our guide, Migo, was brilliant, offering just the right amount of information. The BBQ singing and dancing with the crew was a standout moment. Original Travel was amazing, and everyone involved was knowledgeable, helpful and adaptable when organising a trip for so many."

"It was fantastic! We felt very well looked after, which made the experience more relaxed. The whole trip was incredible – we kept thinking 'this is the best bit', but it was all excellent. Being on the Steam Ship Sudan was very special and so were all our stops, with fantastic guides, drivers and local contacts throughout."

The Nile River spans a remarkable 4,160 miles along the African continent, passing through 11 countries before flowing into the Mediterranean Sea. Greek author Herodotus captured the significance of the north-flowing waterway when he wrote that the Ancient Egyptians’ land was ‘given them by the river’, and historically the Nile was relied upon for fertile agricultural soil and transporting building supplies. Today, a cruise along the sacred river is one of the best ways to discover the many wonders that Egypt has to offer. On one of our Egypt cruises, you’ll trade a traditional hotel for a stay on our boat, the legendary Steam Ship Sudan, which will transport you in luxury between fascinating ancient monuments as you drift along the enigmatic waters.

Built by Thomas Cook and hailing from the Golden Age of travel in the 1900s, the Steam Ship Sudan is the oldest and most authentic paddle steamers still in operation. The boat has undergone a recent renovation, retaining its elegant atmosphere while also introducing some modern-day luxury comforts. Author Agatha Christie’s time on board inspired her classic novel ‘Death on the Nile’ and you’ll be following in the footsteps of numerous other novelists and nobles, who have undertaken the time-honoured voyage along the Eternal River aboard the historic steamer. Consisting of just 24 cabins and five suites, a stay onboard is a truly exceptional and exclusive experience, and with fresh organic fruit and vegetables supplied to the ship, you’ll be able to enjoy fine-dining on deck as you drift past the verdant banks of the Nile Valley.

Your timeless journey from Luxor to Aswan will include plenty more treasures to discover on dry land. Our Egypt cruises involve visits to all of the renowned sites, as well as some of the best off-the-beaten-track attractions. Marvel at the legendary Pyramids of Giza, the last remaining of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and admire the intricately decorated rooms of Hathor Temple, dedicated to the Egyptian goddess of love, fertility, music and dancing. Both the Valley of the Kings and the Queens are on the itinerary, where an impressive 153 ancient tombs have been uncovered. If you’re looking to add even more authenticity to your itinerary, we can include stays at the historic landmarks of the Old Winter Palace in Luxor and the Old Cataract in Aswan, which have hosted an array of famous guests.
