The Owl and the Pussycat is a boutique beachside hotel which oozes charm and playful character. From the bold colour palette to the assorted textures, this stylish contemporary hotel is a fresh and stylish option on Sri Lanka’s south coast.
The 17 rooms at The Owl and the Pussycat accommodate for a variety of travellers; take your pick of a suite, room or penthouse. Large, airy rooms are custom designed with high end finishes to create an elegant feel throughout. All rooms have cosy seating areas to relax and unwind in and terraces or balconies with expansive water views. Suites feature an in-room kitchen and a spacious terrace, while the Penthouse sits on the top floor and is the ultimate ocean viewing spot.
The Runcible Spoon is the hotels vibrant restaurant which occupies the outdoor dining terrace. Fresh, locally sourced ingredients are blended here to create a variety of flavours in keeping with local Sri Lankan cuisine, and these can be accompanied by a bottle of wine from the hotel's extensive wine cellar. For cocktail lovers the Beach Shack serves a selection of punchy Sri Lankan mixes - as well as all the classics - to enjoy under the palm trees.
To keep guest occupied The Owl and the Pussycat boasts luscious green gardens and a large swimming pool overlooking the ocean, a small gym, a tranquil spa and a yoga platform. If you ever tire of lounging by the pool, being waited on hand and foot, sunbathing on the beach, or sipping cocktails under the coconut trees while listening to live jazz (on the weekends) then the hotel also organises various local sightseeing activities and excursions. These include visits to the historic fortified town of Galle - which is just a 20 minute drive away -, fishing trips, and the opportunity to see baby turtles enter the world at the nearby turtle hatchery.
Take a moment to note the names of the rooms, they are named after the elements of Edward Lear's nonsensical poem 'The Owl and the Pussycat' - from which the hotel takes its name!
