Located on the east coast of Sri Lanka, Jungle Beach is true to its name, surrounded by two of the country’s major draw cards - beaches and jungle. The hotel design incorporates the trees growing around the site, to give a Romantic treehouse style to guestrooms.
The hotel is almost hidden from the beach, adding to the sense that guests have discovered a secret hideaway on this idyllic beach. Guestrooms overlook the golden sand beach, the lagoon, or are nestled within the jungle foliage, surrounded by a chorus of birdsong and the distant sound of waves lapping the shore. There are 48 cabins in all, each with a wooden deck or terrace, perfect on which to relax and look out for wildlife and birdlife, and created from sustainable local materials.
Each Cabin features a King or Twin beds, TV, DVD player, iPod dock, and en suite bathroom with both indoor and outdoor showers. For families or groups travelling together, the Jungle Cluster Villas share the same style and amenities as Cabins, but also boast a swimming pool to be shared by the Cluster Villa guestrooms.
The restaurant serves both international cuisine, and a menu of delicious Sri Lankan dishes, with many regional specialties, local ingredients, and fresh from the ocean seafood platters, featuring the catch of the day. Spicy and fruity curries are served, alongside western dishes, and fresh salads, using organic produce, and served in the open air restaurant, fanned by the sea breeze. The team at Jungle Beach also create a range of private dining experiences, which are simply perfect for special occasions.
Spa treatments are on offer in the Jungle Beach spa, where guests can enjoy a pampering session nestled between the ocean and the jungle using Uga's very own blends of essential oils. Guests can also kick back and relax by the pool, on the floating platform, or of course the glorious, and peaceful beach. For those that like to be on the move, enjoy a Yoga session, cookery class, kite making class, or cycling trip through the saltpans. Water sports are also on offer, whilst keen snorkellers and divers should explore the coast of Kuchchaveli.
The hotel is located within a secluded 10 acre reserve, making it perfect to spot all kinds of wildlife, as well as being located on a gloriously peaceful beach.
