Escape the hustle and bustle of Florence on your next Italy holiday and opt for a 15th century villa just outside the city. Il Salviatino has commanding views over Florence, dominated by the cathedral dome, and looking east there is nothing but uninterrupted Tuscan countryside.
Il Salviatino is a traditional 15th century villa, updated to meet modern needs while retaining its authentic charm. The rooms are brimming with antique baths, weathered oak floors and leather armchairs. Flat screen TV's are cleverly concealed in large mirrors, adding a touch of modernity to this very traditional Florentine villa. Meanwhile there are enough valuable paintings lining the walls to make a museum jealous.
There are two restaurants to choose from, both serving delectable food influenced by the region and seasons. With views over Florence, La Terrazza provides the perfect setting in which to enjoy classic Tuscan dishes. These are then re-created with a modern twist in Le Serre restaurant.
The Spa Il Salviatino in the grounds of the hotel offers an extensive treatment list focused on a Tuscan experience, with fragrances and products from Dr. Vranjes, and is just above the three-level pool. After an active day of sightseeing in Florence, Il Salviatino is a sanctuary which many find hard to leave.
Why We Love It
Every room has a dedicated 'service ambassador', a personal concierge who is on hand to fulfil any wish, no matter how large or small.
With Ponte Vecchio on the doorstep, guests can appreciate Florence in all its beauty without having to compete with the crowds, yet a quick hop over the bridge and the history of Florence is all there.
Situated on the left side of the River Arno in between the Ponte Vecchio and Ponte St. Trinita, the location offers the best of both worlds.
Hotel Lungarno was the first Ferragamo hotel to open, and the designer background is inherent in its stylish and contemporary décor. The 63 rooms and suites, ooze elegance with French beds, marble bathrooms and antique furniture. The views over the River Arno and Ponte Vecchio aren't bad either.
The hotel boasts an impressive art collection, which includes over 400 works by the likes of Picasso and Cocteau. After a day of exploring the city, the Picteau Cocktail Bar serves delicious cocktails perfectly complemented by the art that adorns its walls. One starred Michelin restaurant Borgo San Jacopo serves up Italian gourmet excellence in a dining room overlooking the river.
Why We Love It
The impressive art collection makes Hotel Lungarno the perfect hotel for art lovers who can't quite face the crawling queues of the Uffizi, or are after a more modern fix.
All romantic visions evoked by E M Forster's 'Room with a View' go out of the window with this hotel. Instead, tradition is surpassed for a minimalist and ultra-slick design.
Think Florence and visions of antique furniture, painted frescos and ornate marble bathrooms spring to mind but Continentale defies such tradition, and its contemporary vibe adds an element of fun to the normal notion of the Florentine hotel.
The decor of the 43 rooms is inspired by the 1950's, with clean lines, crisp white linens and plenty of light. Small touches such as a clock-come-bedside table, black and white photography, and classic films playing on a giant plasma screen in the hall, make this hotel the funkiest in Florence.
La Terrazza Rooftop Bar is the perfect place to grab a cocktail, with unbeatable views over the sights of Florence, whilst the trendy Fusion Bar & Restaurant serves delicious Nikkei cuisine. Positioned next to the Ponte Vecchio, the hotel is also perfectly placed for exploring the sights of Florence.
Why We Love It
Take advantage of the river-side location and sip cocktails on an ancient Renaioli boat on the river Arno.
