Dog sledding, ice skating and snowshoeing through snow-clad forests; wandering along quaint cobbled city streets in Stockholm; cute woodland cabins, quirky tree houses and cool ice hotels - it doesn't get much more magical than Christmas in Sweden.

"The booking was very easy, and communication was great from start to finish. The staff at Sorbyn Lodge were all very friendly and really helpful, and the private activities were all amazing, with very knowledgeable guides who were very proud to live and work there. We felt we saw the real Swedish Lapland, and the trip was everything we were hoping it would be."

"Each experience was amazing, and the accommodation was excellent throughout. The Concierge was very helpful and addressed our needs, and Original Travel's emergency helpline was particularly supportive when we had problems getting to the airport, stepping in quickly to help when we needed it most."

"Valeria and Margarita were very friendly and helpful, responding quickly to any queries we had. Having a Concierge during a trip was not something we had previously experienced, but we found it provided reassurance that help was available if needed. We use Gatwick airport quite a lot, but your service meant we had the smoothest of passages through the system. Brilliant. We particularly enjoyed the guided tours in Gothenburg and Stockholm. The guides were very friendly, knowledgeable and entertaining."

So what are the options for Sweden Christmas holidays? If you're looking for the classic white Christmas, head north to Swedish Lapland. The perfect winter playground, here you can spend your days out in snowy nature doing endless activities, exploring and learning about traditional life for the Sami people (the indigenous people of Lapland), before heading back to a cosy cabin or lodge to warm up in front of the fire (hot chocolate and cinnamon buns not optional). While Father Christmas may technically live in neighbouring Finland, he often pops over the border into Sweden and you may be able to find him and meet Rudolph, and maybe even go for a ride in your very own reindeer-pulled sleigh.

Alternatively, if you prefer city over countryside, head to picture-perfect Stockholm with its snow-dusted colourful houses and cobbled streets, where you can explore museums and galleries before popping into coffee shops for fika - a traditional Swedish coffee and cake break, usually by candlelight.

To ensure you have the most magical experience possible when you spend Christmas in Sweden, our team of experts can help you capture the festive magic on a tailor-made itinerary that's entirely curated to suit you.
