Family holidays to Egypt
Just back from a family holiday to Egypt, where we took four small children for ten days of heat, sleep and excellent food (contrary to the popular misconception on Egypt). We stayed at the Kempinski Soma Bay, very recently opened and on an excellent stretch of the Red sea coastline, 45 minutes from Hurghada airport.
Apart from the wonderful weather, the food and the team were both pleasant surprises. I was expecting good for both, but they in fact both rated excellent. My daughter Amelie still talks about Mohammed, and none of us have lost the weight that every second pudding (or even steak for breakfast) put on.
A great place to switch off
We expected, and got, a lovely beach, great pools, a kids' club and spa, decent sized rooms and a serene atmosphere. We never expected, and did not get, any good wine or much peace on the five hour Easyjet flight but arriving direct into Hurghada and avoiding Cairo makes that worthwhile. If you need to switch off, this is a place we recommend, and as a family will definitely go back to.
