Fernando de Noronha has been described as ‘the Emerald of the Atlantic’, and we certainly think we’ve found a hidden gem in Pousada Teju-Acu.
Surrounded by bountifully lush vegetation, Pousada Teju-Acu is a serious eco-inn with sustainability at its heart. Eight bungalows sit close together with chic and minimalist wooden interiors designed with this natural ethos in mind. The ensuite bathrooms come with spoiling L'Occitane treats, and each has a balcony for an added element of privacy.
There's little doubt that grumbling stomachs will be satisfied with gastronomy galore from the hotel's own chef, Mauricio. A creative genius, each of his dishes is a picture perfect delight, with edible flowers and specially grown sprouts, as well as a smoking process to add a bit of extra oomph to the flavours. Fish caught by guests will be used as well, making the whole occasion rather an excitement.
It will be hard to find a spare moment at this gloriously serene paradise, with 16 beaches sprawling effortlessly, and a bountiful plethora of wildlife attracted to all. Walking, diving and surfing are some of the best activities available, which is down to the rich marine life and gentle swell of the ocean. Dolphins, sea turtles and sharks can also be glimpsed from any manner of the boat trips or sailing tours on offer too. The pool and Jacuzzi are totally tranquil spots to get stuck into a good book or simply soak in the sights and unwind after a busy day. However, the nearby beach bar offers a cracking Caipirinha should a sundowner overlooking the beach be somewhat more appealing.
