In the sub-tropical Iryapu jungle on the edge of the Iguazu National Park, the Loi Suites Hotel is an architectural gem hidden among native Earpod and Rosewood trees.
In five stone-clad buildings, linked by suspended bridges, all 162 rooms boast close-up jungle views, most having a private balcony from which guests can view the populous butterfly and toucan species. The suites are modern with hardwood furniture and leather features, with traditional fabrics and artefacts and stone bathrooms mixed in.
The restaurant, Naipi, serves local and international delicacies from its quiet terrace, surrounded by the lush jungle. Lighter lunch options are available from the Tiki bar, with local specialities such as Surubi river fish to sample on the decking by the pools. There is also a barbeque and snack bar on site to keep everyone satisfied.
The large split-level pools are a fantastic feature of the Loi Suites hotel, affording shady loungers and warm waters that are illuminated by night. There is also a Turkish bathhouse, Jacuzzi and relaxing spa treatments available.
The main attraction, the two-mile wide Iguazu Falls, on the border of Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay, are only 15 minutes drive away, accessible by private tour or hired car. The private pontoon on the Rio Iguazu is convenient for boat trips to the Falls or a quiet canoeing trip, while on land ecotours, biking, riding and trekking allow guests to experience the jungle in all its glory. If you tire of the natural beauty of the region (highly unlikely) then explore the Tancredo Neves bridge, Bottega Churrascaria show and Hummingbird Garden nearby.
