Discover Argentina’s wild side on this 13-day family adventure. It all kicks off in the buzzing capital of Buenos Aires, where a local guide will introduce you to lively neighbourhoods and local spots.

The fun ramps up in San Carlos de Bariloche, in Patagonia, where you’ll pick up your hire car and hit the road for a legendary journey around the region’s famous Circuito Chico. And if your family road trips are usually punctuated by the familiar chorus of ‘are we there yet?’, on this route, the answer is always a thrilling yes, with shimmering lakes, sleepy villages and panoramic viewpoints around every bend.

Then, lace up your best walking shoes for a hike to the summit of Cerro Campanario, where jaw-dropping vistas across Bariloche’s rugged wilderness more than reward the effort. Safe to say, this is one selfie stop that’s definitely fridge door worthy.

Next, don your cowboy hats and channel your inner gauchos (Argentina’s skilled horse riders and cattle herders) on a ranch stay in Cordoba, where you’ll meet your trusty steeds, saddle up and clip-clop through rolling farmlands. Add in smoky barbecue dinners beside crackling log fires and evenings spent stargazing, and you have the countryside escape of dreams.

Finally, your journey wraps up in Iguazu, where rainforest trails lead to one of South America’s most spectacular wonders: Iguazu Falls. Alongside a local guide, weave between thundering cascades and venture to the Devil’s Throat viewpoint (bonus points to whoever spots a rainbow through the mist first).

If you need anything at all during your trip, our on-site Concierge is just a phone call away, whether that’s recommending a restaurant for fussy eaters, tweaking plans on the fly or sprinkling in a few extra surprises along the journey.

Itinerary

100% customisable for you

Bags packed, snacks secured and excitement levels officially sky-high – today's the day you and the family are off to Argentina.

Head to the airport, whizz through security and bundle onto the plane for the 17-hour overnight flight to Buenos Aires (with a quick stop in a European or American hub along the way). Brush up on a few basic Spanish phrases, stick on a film and crack open the games as you soar over the Atlantic. With any luck, you’ll all catch some Z’s before arriving the following morning.

When you touch down in the capital, you’ll be met at the airport and driven one hour to your hotel – your base for the next two nights.

The rest of the day is yours to ease into adventure mode. Stretch your legs with a stroll, grab some street food and slow things right down with a lazy afternoon by the pool. Finally, crawl into bed for a well-earned early night – tomorrow promises plenty more excitement...

Rise and shine early this morning to beat the jet lag and treat yourself to some medialunas (Argentina’s take on croissants). Then, set off with your local guide on a greatest-hits tour of Buenos Aires, which may include the likes of San Telmo, La Boca and Recoleta.

Your guide knows all the best spots for a true taste of everyday life in the capital, from unsung gems and indie cafés to tucked-away street food stalls beloved by locals. Between bites, hear fascinating tales that bring the city’s history to life – a great opportunity to sneak in a bit of stealth learning.

As the day draws to a close, watch live performers belting out the unmistakable rhythm of milonga (the traditional music and dance style born in Buenos Aires), and don’t be surprised if the whole family ends up attempting a few tango moves before heading back to the hotel.

Bid the capital a warm adios this morning as you’re privately transferred back to the airport for your two-and-a-half-hour flight to San Carlos de Bariloche, deep in the heart of Argentine Patagonia.

When you land, pick up your hire car and hit the road for the one-hour drive along the shores of Lake Nahuel Hupai. When you arrive in the waterfront town of Bariloche, hop out and head to your hotel nestled in the heart of the forest – your home for the next three nights.

After all that travelling there’s only one thing for it: food. Ask our local Concierge for their favourite family-friendly spot in town and wolf down some crispy empanadas (golden pastry parcels stuffed with savoury fillings).

Gear up for a road trip today as you take on Bariloche’s famous Circuito Chico. Roll down the windows, tune into our destination-specific playlist and let the full family sing-along commence as you wind through the 18-mile loop past shimmering lakes and dense pine forests.

First up is Colonia Suiza, a storybook alpine village filled with artisan shops. Next, pass Cerro Llao Llao, one of the region’s tallest peaks, before pulling over at Villa Tacul Beach. Cue your youngsters making a beeline straight for the water, skimming stones along the shoreline and splashing about to their hearts’ content, while you parents watch on from the sun loungers.

Visiting between June and September, when Patagonia’s ski season is in full swing? Swap your hiking boots for skis and take to the nearby slopes for snowy thrills.

Round off the day at one of Bariloche’s breweries, where grown-ups can toast to a successful day of exploring with a beer, while little explorers tuck into some hearty fare.

If the family still has energy to spare, we can also arrange a private cruise along Lake Nahuel Huapi, complete with a hike on Victoria Island.

If your family’s happiest in the great outdoors, today is bound to be a highlight. Head to Cerro Campanario and tackle the 30-minute climb to the summit, which rises 3,300ft above sea level. The reward? Sweeping 360° views over Bariloche’s rugged wilderness, where shimmering lakes, pine forests and towering Andean peaks stretch as far as the eye can see. Just be sure to snap plenty of photos while you’re here – this is holiday album gold.

If little legs aren’t quite up for the trek, there’s also a chairlift that whisks you straight to the top.

All that explorin’ is bound to work up some mighty appetites, so this evening, tuck into more of Argentina’s delicious dishes before curling up for a cosy night in back at the hotel.

Enjoy a slower start this morning with a lie in and a leisurely brunch before buckling in for the one-hour drive back to San Carlos de Bariloche Airport, where you’ll drop off your trusty hire car and board the two-hour flight to Cordoba.

When you arrive, you’ll be privately transferred to a ranch-style guesthouse nestled in the countryside surrounding the city of Cordoba – your home away from home for the next three nights. Spend the afternoon watching gauchos at work, befriending the horses and letting the youngsters blow off some steam in the fresh country air.

At 3,000ft above sea level, evenings can feel a little chilly, so bundle up your youngsters for a cowboy-sized barbecue by the crackling log fire, with toasted marshmallows very much on the menu. Then, it’s all eyes to the skies – with barely any light pollution here, the stars put on quite the show. Who will be the first to spot Orion’s Belt?

For the next couple of days, Argentina’s rural heart steals the spotlight. Pull on your boots and embrace estancia life with horseback rides through rolling hills, while keen riders can saddle up for polo sessions and longer countryside adventures worthy of a true gaucho. Come afternoon, wander down to nearby streams for a paddle, keeping your eyes peeled for exotic birdlife.

Witness authentic ranch life in action at local cattle sales and branding events which offer a fascinating glimpse into Argentina’s cowboy culture – a chance for your children to pick up a few haggling tricks too.

Fancy a change of scenery? Just one hour away lies Cordoba, Argentina’s second-largest city. Explore its historic streets, visit the Jesuit Museum and Estancia Santa Catalina, and, if timings align, soak up the electric atmosphere at the folklore festival and rodeo in the Jesus Maria neighbourhood.

Make the rounds saying goodbye to the beloved horses today before finally tearing the little ones away from the ranch and heading to the airport this afternoon for your two-hour flight to Iguazu. Cue the inevitable debate over the window seat as wide-open plains give way to Argentina’s rainforest-cloaked north, all accompanied by a running commentary of oohs and aahs throughout.

When you land, meet your private driver and embark on the 30-minute drive to your jungle hideaway. Check in, drop your bags and spend the afternoon basking in the sunshine as the sounds of the tropical rainforest play out all around you, from exotic birds flitting through the trees to cicadas humming in the background.

This evening, sink your teeth into an iconic Argentine steak before indulging in some dulce de leche ice cream, a sweet treat youngsters tend to go wild for.

Another day, another adventure. Meet your private guide and head to Iguazu National Park to explore one of South America’s most jaw-dropping natural wonders.

Follow the winding walkways as your guide shares tales of the falls’ wildlife, history and legends, pausing at panoramic viewpoints where cascades thunder through the rainforest canopy.

Then comes the showstopper: the mighty Devil’s Throat. With every step closer, the roar grows louder until you’re standing beside a colossal wall of crashing water and swirling mist. The adventure continues along the lower trails, where eight different viewpoints bring you even closer to the action. Here, you may even spot some curious coatis (racoon-like creatures with long striped tails), which can often be spotted darting through the vegetation in search of snacks.

For your last night, leave dinner plans in the hands of your Concierge, who’ll know just the spot for a celebratory final meal.

Time flies when you’re having fun and, sadly, your adventure across Argentina has come to an end. This morning, fuel up with a hearty breakfast before meeting your driver for the 45-minute private transfer, crossing into Brazil en route to Cataratas Airport in Foz do Iguacu.

The route back is a two-parter, stopping in Rio de Janeiro or Sao Paulo along the way, where you can stretch your legs and indulge in a spot of duty-free shopping before boarding your final overnight flight home.

All in all, you’ll spend around 18 hours in the air. Plenty of time to start the all-important conversation with your young explorers – where to next on the travel bucket list?

Then, hop ashore at Victoria Island for a family-friendly hike along its wild northern shores before rolling out a picnic with views of Mount Tronador, Capilla and El Capitan.
