Old No 77 & Chandlery

New Orleans is surprisingly lacking in the chic boutique hotel department, but that's immaterial when what's on offer is as good as the new Old No 77 & Chandlery, with its exposed brick walls and high ceilings befitting of a former warehouse.

The stylish rooms and suites are ideal for your next USA holiday. The hotel's interior is characterised by large windows, hardwood floors and ceiling fans and the rooms offer a lovely place to relax after a day exploring the city. But the main events are downstairs.

The open plan ground floor is home to Tour La coffee, cocktail and pastry bar; a gallery showcasing local artists and Compere Lapin restaurant, home to chef Nina Compton's mash up Franco-Italo-Caribbean cooking and more killer cocktails. Hair of the dog doesn't often taste this good.

Why We Love It

The Do Not Disturb signs say 'Let's just say things got a little crazy last night and leave it at that' - an appropriate touch in this town.

Belmond Charleston Place

The Belmond Charleston Place sits at the heart of Charleston's historic district, offering luxury accommodation brimming with the latest technology, whilst retaining the atmosphere of a grand 17th century residence through decadent interiors, and charming staff keen to indulge guests with the very best of Southern hospitality.

Guestrooms and Suites are decorated in neutral tones, with classic dark wood furniture, and sumptuous fabrics, in a Charleston-inspired design. Rooms also feature distinctive artworks, and luxurious marble bathrooms, and the spacious suites offer additional living space.

The award winning Charleston Grill serves up a menu of local specialities at the hand of Chef Michelle Weaver for dinner each evening, accompanied by world class jazz music. The inside-outside garden setting of the Palmetto Café uses fresh, local ingredients in a distinctly southern menu, from breakfast, through to leisurely lunches, whilst the Thoroughbred club is open for casual drinks, and tapas in the evenings.

The Spa at Belmond Charleston Place is an oasis in the city, providing a sanctuary of relaxation with a range of face and body treatments. Guests will also surely want to spend leisurely afternoons by the rooftop swimming pool, with retractable glass roof. A fitness centre, Jacuzzi and gallery of luxury boutiques complete the facilities at this old-world luxury hotel.

Why We Love It

The top floor swimming pool has a retractable glass roof, so even if it's raining you can still swim under the stars.

Reasons to Visit Los Angeles in April

Reasons to Visit Los Angeles in April

Spring in the City of Angels has had some rather downbeat descriptions over the years, with Angelinos annually bemoaning May Gray and June Gloom. April, however, retains a glowing reputation – and not just because it’s a harder rhyme. Always an exciting time, April is marked by desert-dwelling festivals, migrating marine mammals and a (slight) decline in crowds. For the lowdown on all the exciting events popping up in and around the city, read our roundup of reasons to visit Los Angeles in April.

Where to Go in North America in Winter

Love it or hate it, winter rolls around every year. So, why not spend this polarizing time on a polarized continent? From skating on the frozen lakes of the Canadian Rockies and crunching through the snow-blanketed plains of Alaska to sampling internationally renowned wines in the vineyards of Northern California and cruising between the laid-back microcosms of The Florida Keys, North America has something for everyone during winter.
