The enigmatic beach-blessed haven of Lombok is fast becoming more than just a surfer's paradise. Nowadays keen explorers can discover Bali’s equally captivating neighbour with accommodation options to suit every holidaying experience. Thankfully, we’ve rounded up a list of our favourite Lombok hotels for all your surfing, trekking and sun basking needs. So, if you’re looking for where to stay in Lombok (whether you’re after private ocean views or laid-back tropical vibes) keep reading...
All rooms feature a private shaded terrace with garden or ocean views, sunken marble garden baths and butler service, while some also have private swimming pools.
Many of our favourite luxury hotels in Lombok boast rich vegetation and stunning views, and this hotel is no exception. Set in 24 acres of tropical landscaped gardens, with luxurious thatched villas and pavilions dotted around the gardens and along a 550-metre private stretch of golden sand beach.
When contemplating where to stay in Lombok it’s important to consider the holidaying experience you want to have, from lazy beach days to adventure fuelled excursions. Activities at the Oberoi Lombok can cater to this, with a variety of water sports available from the beach club at the end of the jetty, including snorkelling, scuba diving, windsurfing, sailing and sea kayaking. A short boat trip takes you to the Gili Islands, where you can enjoy a picnic lunch on one of the beaches and great snorkelling or diving on coral reefs.
Other facilities at the resort include a large swimming pool fringed by tall palms, a spa with open-air massage pavilions, a gym, sauna, steam room and a tennis court. There are also mountain bikes for hire, a golf course ten minutes away across the bay, and excursions to the Mt Rinjani volcano are another option. The resort's main restaurant serves Asian and Western cuisine overlooking the ocean. Alternatively, a terrace café offers light lunches and seafood in the evenings, and there is a sunset bar serving tropical cocktails.
This is easily one of the best luxury hotels in Lombok and almost every water sport under the sun is available at the Beach Club. We recommend hiring a boat and taking a picnic out to the Gili Islands for some remarkable snorkelling.
Another of our favourite Lombok hotels is the slice of paradise located on the gorgeous Klui Beach in Senggigi, Jeeva Klui Resort is a charming retreat which lures you in with its framing natural beauty.
Guests have the choice of 35 tastefully decorated suites and villas - think rustic chic! With ocean views or ocean front options. One thing is for certain when it comes to luxury hotels in Lombok: stunning views are integral to your stay. The villas feature their own private plunge pools and are that little bit more spacious than the suites.
The Wareoeng restaurant is a laid-back affair serving delicious traditional Indonesian and international dishes in an open-air setting overlooking the Indian Ocean. The dining veranda also provides the perfect spot to retreat for enjoying the sun set over the volcanoes of Bali and Gilli islands, with a light refreshment in hand of course.
For leisure and pleasure, and aside from the peaceful beach for the sun worshippers among you, there is a large infinity swimming pool with ocean vistas, a Spa offering indulgent Indonesian treats, boats trips to Bali and the Gilli islands, trekking, bicycle tours and donning a snorkel mask to explore the crystal waters of the lagoon.
The tropical environment is perfect for a blend of luxury and laid-back ambience.
While Indonesia is (quite rightly) a tourist magnet, you can explore a side of the islands that often goes unseen with our team’s insider knowledge and connections. That might come in the form of an eco-snorkelling tour in Lombok, guided by fishermen who previously worked in the shark-fishing industry. Our savvy in-country Concierges are just a WhatsApp away, eager to recommend their favourite tried-and-tested experiences. We’ll even take the admin out of travel by arranging e-visas and the Bali Tourist Tax before you go, so you can enjoy Indonesia’s rice terraces, temples and beaches in peace.
