Hotel Guaycura

Hotel Guaycura is the best place in Todos Santos, a lovely little town with a relaxed feel, lots of galleries and little artisan shops.

The 14 bedrooms are beautifully decorated, with four-poster beds, large bathrooms and spacious showers or baths. Some of the rooms have terraces, and there is also a rooftop pool and bar with great views out over the town. Snacks and drinks are also on offer in a small lobby bar and there is an outside courtyard where the excellent chef serves up the finest food in town.

A spa and art gallery complete the on site options, and activities on offer in the surrounding area include everything from star-gazing to bird watching, whale watching, cliff walks and riding.

Why We Love It

In its 150 year history the hotel (pronounced y-koo-ra), has been a private residence, a school, a post office, an art academy for young ladies and even a police station before opening in its latest guise as immaculate boutique hotel in 2010

The Resort at Pedregal

If it's privacy you're after, this is the place to stay in the area thanks to a huge piece of rock standing between the road and this excellent hotel near Cabo San Lucas.

The Pacific facing Resort at Pedregal has 66 bedrooms and 18 private villas which are perfect for families. Each room has an ocean view and the higher room categories have beach areas sectioned off for their exclusive use. The three restaurants serve everything from light lunches to delicious seafood grills in the evenings and there is a private dining room for special occasions. Elsewhere, the first class Auviga spa has ten treatment rooms and all manner of activities including sailing, hiking, golf, fishing and helicopter rides can be arranged.

Why We Love It

The hotel designers even went so far as to blast a tunnel, now smartly lit with chandeliers, through the rock to access this prime piece of land that is now one of the best places to stay in the area.

Esperanza

Esperanza is a luxury beach resort located four miles from Cabo San Lucas at the tip of Mexico's Baja Peninsula, where the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortez.

The 50 ocean-view casitas and six suites all have private terraces, outdoor seating and the latest in-room technology including flat-screen TVs, DVD players, stereos, iPod docking stations and hi-speed wireless internet.

Esperanza's facilities include a private sandy beach, swimming pool, gym, and a yoga and pilates studio offering complimentary daily yoga classes. The spa features steam caves, waterfalls, outdoor pools and gardens and offers a wide variety of treatments and massages.

For dining, there is a choice of three restaurants including a swim-up pool bar and the main oceanfront restaurant with its several levels of terraced seating leading down to the shore. The resort's bar offers over 100 varieties of tequila and a cigar menu.

All kinds of outdoor activities are available locally to take advantage of this wonderful climate, including whale watching from November to February, sailing, diving, snorkelling, surfing and kayaking.

Land activities include tennis, horse riding and several championship golf courses - Esperanza's concierge can book tee-times for you. There are also plenty of good restaurants and shops in the Los Cabos area and the airport is only a 30 minute drive away.
