Zuri Zanzibar is a stylish and luxurious resort on Zanzibar Island. The hotel is located on Kendwa beach, a fine stretch of white sand beach which is non-tidal (unlike most of the island's beaches), allowing guests to swim all day long.
A member of the Design Hotels collection, the resort has been carefully developed to offer a chic and bohemian option in Zanzibar. There are 55 Bungalows, Suites and Villas built around spectacular landscaped spice gardens and all offering beautiful views of the ocean or the flowering gardens. The décor features lots of exposed wood and bamboo, as well as traditional African artwork and plush modern furniture, so combining traditional and ethical architecture with contemporary style. Though all rooms are comfortable and luxurious, The Villas also benefit from direct beach access and private pools or Jacuzzis.
Fusing the very best of the culinary influences in the Indian Ocean - think European, African, Arabic And Indian -, the restaurants at Zuri Zanzibar bring guests a rainbow of colours and flavours. The casual Upendo Restaurant serves international cuisine with an African/Indian Ocean twist; Maischa, the poolside restaurant, offers Mediterranean and Middle Eastern fare; and the Beach Restaurant & Bar brings guests Indian Ocean style tapas dishes alongside stunning beach views. For drinks, head to Dhow Bar and enjoy a cocktail as the sun sets.
Aside from relaxing on the wide stretches of soda white sand and swimming in the turquoise ocean, guests have plenty to keep them entertained here. The private gardens surrounding the resort offer the perfect escape for a spot of mindful meditation, yoga classes are run every day on the beach, and the infinity pool is lined with hammocks made for curling up with a good book. For the more actively inclined, why not utilise the WIMBI Water Sports Centre and try your hand at a spot of snorkelling, diving or surfing. Guests can also enjoy visits to Jozani Forest to spot Red Monkeys, immerse in the island's history on a Zanzibar spice tour, or take a stroll through the nearby fisherman's market.
