Translated from Swahili Roho Ya Selous means heart of Selous, and that’s exactly where this lodge is. Look out from your luxurious tent onto wetlands, open plains and an array of wildlife from prime position on top of the hill.
There are just eight tents at Roho Ya Selous, meaning each has private and uninterrupted views across the reserve. The tents themselves are spacious and stylish, with elegant furnishings, large en suite bathrooms with indoor and outdoor showers, and textured reed walls, stone floors and hand-woven grass carpets to give a natural but modern feel. All also feature a veranda from which to spot game and watch the sunset. Seven of the tents are for double occupancy and one of the tents is a family tent which can sleep up to two adults and three children.
Meals are fully inclusive during a stay at Roho Ya Selous and include everything from full buffet breakfasts, to light and fresh lunches, afternoon teas, and leisurely three course dinners. Dinner is often served al fresco under the vast African night sky.
There are a number of activities on offer here, enabling guests to enjoy the very best of the water and land based experiences. There are game drives, walking safaris and boating and fishing safaris all on offer and all provide unique ways to get to grips with the rugged Selous landscape. Additionally there is a large swimming pool to cool off in, and the shaded lounge tent makes the perfect place to curl up with a good book out of the midday sun.
The panoramic views over the water are something very special.
