Located within a 10,000 acre private wildlife concession between Tarangire National Park and Lake Manyara, Chem Chem is utterly relaxing and away from the busier parts of East Africa.
There are eight tented rooms at Chem Chem, including a Family Room and the newest addition, a two bedroom two bathroom tent which can sleep families of five. Each tent has both an outdoor shower and bath and a wooden decking area with spectacular views. The main lodge is cool and stylish, with large black and white photographs adorning the walls.
Food is delicious at Chem Chem, and the highly trained chef prepares haute cuisine on a daily basis, beautifully presented. There are a few dining areas dotted around the lodge, as well as a number of chill out areas where guests can watch the game that come to the water hole in front of the lodge - zebra and giraffe are regular visitors. There is also a fire pit, which guests gather round in the evening, a swimming pool, a spa area and a gym with state-of-the-art equipment. Fitness fanatics will also love the in room yoga mats, and the the chance to go running through the bush with the local Maasai.
The new Chem Chem Bushcamp is the perfect complement to the main lodge as it faces east towards Tarangire so faces the rising sun. There are just five luxury vintage tents and meals are served either in the mess tent or under a tree lit up at night by firelight. Breakfasts are delivered to the tents for the ultimate lazy start to the day.
When not relaxing at the lodge or bushcamp, guests can go on game drives, walking safaris, tracking with the Masai and have bush breakfasts at dawn. Slightly further afield, day trips to Tarangire and Manyara can be arranged.
A camp, or camps, where relaxing is encouraged (why else would they have a spa cottage?), Chem Chem is the perfect place to ease into a safari, or relax after one.
