Shamwari Bayethe Tented Lodge

Sitting within the Shamwari Private Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape, Shamwari Bayethe Tented Lodge expertly combines luxury with a truly authentic safari experience.

There are just 12 detached tents at the lodge, all of which are surrounded by rich vegetation, offering privacy without compromising the bush views. Tents can all have either king or twin beds, and are light and bright, with polished wood floors, exposed thatched roofs, and neutral coloured canvas walls. All of the tents feature private plunge pools and decks as well as indoor fireplaces, for chillier evenings.

The stylish main lodge area houses a gift boutique, lounge, a 'bush relaxation retreat' spa, and an outdoor swimming pool, where the bush views are best enjoyed. Meals are eaten either inside the cosy main dining area, al fresco on the deck, or around the fire on the lawn. For breakfasts a continental buffet and hot selection is offered, whilst lunch and dinner choices alternate between a la carte, and a traditional Braai (BBQ).

Away from the lodge, it is all about the wildlife. Twice daily game drives are conducted with knowledgeable game rangers, who will lead a group of up to ten guests. The safari programme will be designed each day, to fit the interests of the group. Game walks are also available, as well as spa treatments for complete relaxation between explorations. A must is a visit to one of the two nearby Born Free Big Cat Sanctuaries, or the Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre.
