Surrounded by picture-perfect vineyards and orchards, La Clé des Montagnes is a beautiful old Cape Dutch style property which now houses a selection of rooms, suites and villas. And all just a four minute stroll from the historic centre of Franschhoek.
The accommodation here is split into two factions; La Clé Village which is a collection of buildings housing stylish rooms, suites and one two bedroom villa, and nearby La Clé Lodge which houses five en suite bedrooms (bookable by room or as a whole property). Thanks to the variety of different accommodation styles on offer, including the likes of Garden and Courtyard Rooms, La Clé des Montagnes can cater for a wide range of different group sizes and individual preferences.
Throughout all of the accommodation the décor is consistently neutral, elegant and welcoming. Warm creams, soft patterns and plush furniture is paired with exposed stonework and authentic wooden beams to create a rustic but luxurious atmosphere.
Dining is done in the central Manoir building, where a team of chefs put contemporary twists on local and South African specialities. From causal braais (barbeques) to personalised picnics and special evening Chef's Table dinners, the food at La Clé des Montagnes is one of its highlights.
As La Clé des Montagnes is made up of several different buildings there are various outdoor spaces to explore; numerous swimming pools and gardens are the perfect places to relax and unwind in the South African sun and the surrounding vineyards are ideal for exploring on foot or by bike.
The delightful town of Franschhoek, founded by French Hugenots in 1688, is - as this property's name suggests - the Key to the Mountains, sitting pretty at the foot of Sir Lowry's pass through the Hottentot-Holland Mountains.
