Kurland is a luxury country hotel set on a 700-hectare estate near Plettenberg Bay, on South Africa’s famous ‘Garden Route’.
The property is located between the foothills of the Outeniqua Mountains and the beaches of the Indian Ocean. There are just twelve rooms at Kurland, ten of which have adjoining loft rooms, which are specifically designed for children. Kurland offers individually decorated children's suites with all the 5 star trimmings. Each room is different, extremely comfortable, and decorated with antique furniture and original oil paintings. Eight of the rooms also have private plunge pools. The small number of rooms gives Kurland more the feel of a private house than a hotel, but with superb service and a wide range of facilities.
Specially designed menus - with a focus on healthy, tasty holiday treats! Relax by the palm-fringed swimming pool, enjoy walks through the vast estate, or visit the stables and polo fields, where international class matches are held in season.
Other facilities include a health spa with a gym, sauna and steam bath, plus beauty treatments and massages available on request. Activities on the estate include tennis, horse riding and mountain biking, while golf, dolphin and whale-watching, surfing, diving and the fine sandy beaches of Nature's Valley and Plettenberg Bay are 20 minutes drive away.
Good local cuisine is served in the dining room or the courtyard, accompanied by an excellent wine cellar. Kurland appeals to the discerning traveller and is especially well suited to families with children, and trained nannies are available if required. Delicious family picnic hampers can be arranged for cycle rides or beach trips. All the tools and kit you can imagine: children's playroom, beach toys, horse-riding, mountain bikes with child seats, quads, umbrellas, fishing nets and games. World Class attractions on Kurland's doorstep: Monkey Land, Birds of Eden, Elephant sanctuary, Natures Valley beach and lagoon.
- The original homestead is a Cape Dutch building dating from 1885, surrounded by old oak trees, rose gardens and acres of green pastures.
