Ellerman House is perhaps Cape Town’s most exclusive address – a luxury boutique hotel of just eleven rooms (and two seriously lux villas) located in the premier Cape Town suburb of Bantry Bay.
Formerly a private mansion, the property occupies an elevated, sheltered site on the slopes of the Lion's Head, with panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean. The interiors are richly decorated and feature a collection of South African artworks. Most of the nine rooms and two suites have private balconies, while the deluxe bathrooms come with under-floor heating.
The cream of the crop, however, are the new Ellerman House Villas (named, creatively, One and Two) which must be the most lavishly luxurious places to stay in Cape Town. Ellerman House Villa One has five spacious bedrooms, an entertainment area with deck and private pool, a TV lounge, dining room, study and fully equipped kitchen. A private chef and hospitality team are included, as is full use of the spa pool, relaxation area and steam room. The Villa can be booked either as a five room, or a three room villa.
Meanwhile Ellerman House Villa Two has three bedrooms, a spacious entertainment areas and an infinity pool, with the two levels of the villa and the all important wine gallery linked by a fabulous piece of instillation art helix-inspired staircase.
Outside, immaculate lawned terraces lead down to a large swimming pool set amid palm trees. Other facilities include a fully equipped gym, a sauna, a massage service, a library, excellent restaurant and bar.
Ellerman House is within walking distance of the famous Clifton Beach, ten minutes from the centre of Cape Town and the bustling Waterfront and 45 minutes from the Cape winelands.
- The fully stocked cellars offer guests a selection of over 17,000 bottles of vintage wines.
