Located on the banks of the Ntiakitiak River the Mara Expedition Camp lies quietly under a grove of ebony trees inside the breath-taking Masai Mara Game Reserve.
The camp prides itself on a green approach and has mobility at its heart; in essence it can be packed away without leaving a trace thus ensuring the land is preserved for many years to come.
This small and intimate camp is home to five custom designed canvas tents each drawing reference on old authentic camps of times gone by. Set at ground level and shaded by a forest canopy the tents have a light and airy feel yet are quaintly decorated with leather hardwood furniture, brass chandeliers and Indian campaign sets, all of which resemble items past explorers may have carried. A maximum of 10 people can be accommodated here, spread out across all five tents, and children as young as eight years are welcomed.
All meals at the camp are included, allowing guests to feast on traditional African cuisine of rice, spices and tasty sauces all whilst al fresco under the stars.
Though not inundated with fancy amenities, the camp has hot and cold running water, flushing toilets, bucket showers and wood heaters to keep guests warm in the evenings.
With the Masai Mara as the classroom (and playground) guests can spend days observing the wildebeest and zebra migrations that pass by the veranda and head out on early morning and late afternoon 4x4 game drives in search of the wealth of wildlife that inhabits the mara each summer.
