Kenya Visa Requirements
British citizens need electronic travel authorisation (eTA) to travel to Kenya. You can apply for your eTA online in advance.
Your eTA is valid for 90 days from the date it’s issued, so make sure you don’t apply too far in advance. Authorities recommend applying at least two weeks before your departure date.
Passport Validity for Kenya Travel
Your passport must be valid for at least six months from the date you arrive in Kenya. It must also have at least two blank pages.

A ban on plastic bags is in place across Kenya, and there are severe penalties for anyone who manufactures, sells or uses them. We recommend packing liquids, gels and creams in your checked baggage rather than your hand luggage, to avoid the need for a plastic bag. If you purchase duty-free items when entering Kenya, you’ll be required to leave any plastic bags at the airport.
You must obtain Kenyan Government-provided travel health insurance to visit Kenya. You can obtain this as part of the eTA application process.
