Kenya Visa Requirements

British citizens need a visa to travel to Kenya; you can either get one on your arrival or apply in advance on the e-visa portal: www.evisa.go.ke You can apply for single-entry and transit visas. Approvals can take up to seven days to process so make sure you go through this process with plenty of time to spare before you travel.

Visas are valid for 90 days from the date of approval – therefore, applications should not be made more than 90 days ahead of your stay. Retain a printed confirmation of your e-visa along with your travel documents. For other types of visa, apply at your nearest Kenyan High Commission or Embassy. An East African tourist visa can also be applied for, which is valid for 90 days and allows multiple entry into Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda.

Passport Validity for Kenya Travel

Your passport must be valid for at least six months from the date of your arrival in Kenya. You must also have two blank pages in your passport.

For more information, please check with the embassy.

Other Important Formalities

A ban on plastic bags is in place across Kenya and there are severe penalties for anyone manufacturing, selling and using plastic bags. For this reason, we would advise travelling with liquids, gels and creams in checked baggage to avoid having to use the small clear plastic bag required for liquids in hand luggage. If you purchase duty free items on your entry into Kenya, you will be required to leave any plastic bags at the airport.
