Governors Camp nestles into the forest along the winding banks of the Mara River - its waters teeming with bird life, hippo and crocodile - in the heart of Kenya's Masai Mara National Reserve. In fact the setting is so magical that a century ago it was reserved exclusively for the enjoyment of Kenya’s colonial governors.

There are 37 tents spread across Governors Camp grounds. Some tents line the riverbank, tucked into the forest with uninterrupted views over the Mara River, while the others have views across the sweeping plains of the Maasai Mara. Created in 1972 the camp set new standards in luxury for a tented camp and has continued to uphold this standard ever since. Everything is under canvas but all tents have en suite bathrooms and are spacious, airy and come with all the luxury amenities needed in the African bush.

When it comes to dining guests will enjoy fresh African cuisine in the open sided dinning tent which has stunning views over the plains. They can then retire to the bar tent which overlooks the river and watch the night sky with a drink or two.

Experienced guides and world renowned game viewing potential means guests will have every opportunity to spot the Big Five on morning and evening game drives and walking safaris. There is also the opportunity to get to grips with the cultural side of Kenyan life on a visit to a traditional Maasai village.
