The Four Seasons Tented Camp is a luxurious camp set amidst the bamboo forests of mountainous Chiang Rai province in northern Thailand.
Known as the Golden Triangle, this area where the borders of Thailand, Laos and Burma converge has historically been infamous for its connection to the opium trade, but the Thai sector has now been transformed, with coffee, fruit and other crops replacing the poppies.
The Four Seasons Tented Camp offers all-inclusive three-or-four-night adventures and must be combined with a stay at the Four Seasons in Chiang Mai. The camp is reached either via a scenic four-hour drive from Chiang Mai or an hour's drive from Chiang Rai airport. The final stage of the journey involves a ten-minute trip by river boat. Accommodation consists of just 15 spacious tents overlooking the Ruak River, spaced at a comfortable distance from each other to allow total privacy. Each tent has a large wooden deck and features the Four Seasons touches you would expect, right down to the hand-hammered copper bathtubs.
Activities include nature walks, birdwatching, fishing, river trips and a variety of excursions in the Golden Triangle, including visits to local hill-tribes. Back at the camp, enjoy a swim in the pool, a spa treatment, Thai massage or yoga lesson, drinks at the sundowner bar and delicious Thai, Laotian and Burmese cuisine.
Try your hand at mahout training at the nearby elephant camp followed by elephant trekking through the jungle.
