If you’re seeking adventure and the chance to immerse yourself in the natural world, Khao Sok National Park is a great place to aim for. Nestled in Southern Thailand, the park comprises lush rainforests inhabited by diverse wildlife like elephants and monkeys. Caves dot its landscape and waterfalls provide respite from the heat during the height of summer while exploring its stunning scenery. The limestone cliffs that surround Cheow Lan Lake are home to many species of fish, birds and plants, including spot-billed pelicans that can be seen flying over the water and landing on boulders before diving deep into the water.
One of our favourite wildlife experiences is a water safari along the river at sunset when animals come out of hiding and go out in search of their next meal. For something more thrilling, try whitewater rafting down the Sok River which flows through the tropical rainforest to the soundtrack of birds calling out to one another and monkeys chattering away in the trees above you. For some hustle and bustle, visit Khao Sok’s covered market, where you can sample local produce and street food or take a stroll down the riverfront to the pier where you can watch fishermen mending their nets.
