Classical history and stunning scenery set the scene for this addition to the Aman Resorts portfolio, Amanruya.
Amanruya's location on the northern coast off the Bodrum Peninsula is unbeatable. Set on a slope, Amanruya has spectacular views out to the Aegean Sea, and is surrounded by olive groves and a Mediterranean Pine Forest.
Accommodation is made up of 36 Pavillions, and each one is guaranteed to be as private as the next. They all have grey-green marble private pools set within large gardens, all with huge day beds and sun beds. Inside, the cottages are equally as stunning, and just as spacious. All have four poster beds, sofas, a dining table and separate traditional Turkish mangal fireplace, and there is an overall sense of calm with muted tones and airy spaces - an element of Turkish opulence is created by traditional rugs and throws from Istanbul.
Amanruya is a foodie's haven. There are three dining pavilions each focusing on a different part of the world. Try Thai, Indonesian, Western and Turkish food, and all in a different setting (all have sea views). There is also a Terrace and Wine Lounge, as well as a bar at the Beach Club, just 500 metres from the hotel.
The Beach Club is located on the hotel's pebbled beach, just a short walk down the winding hill. It is made up of small terraces with sun loungers, a jetty and an offshore swimming pontoon. Pedalos and small sailing boats are also available to hire - we highly recommend this for exploring the nearby coves.
Aside from the individual pools in the Pavillions, there is also a main pool over looking the sea, as well as a tennis court, two spa suites and a library.
Turkey is not all about the sun and sea - the region is brimming with history. Immerse yourself in 5,000 years of Roman and Greek history with a day trip to Ephesus, stopping at Didyma, Miletus and Priene en-route.
