Morukuru River House is a luxurious private safari home, perched on the edge of the idyllic Marico River banks.
River House is a multi-level house, with three double en suite bedrooms, each with a private deck, indoor bathtub with bush views through floor to ceiling windows, and an outdoor shower. There is also a fourth bedroom option in the form of the fun packed family room, which houses two bunk beds, a PlayStation, TV, and computer. Throughout the property the interiors are designed with a warm colour palette and natural materials, and carefully fuse African charm with European styling. As a home away from home there are plenty of hideaways for guests to escape to, as well as lots of large open spaces to socialise together in.
Since a team of seven staff care for guests at River House, (including a nanny if requested) guest will be thoroughly looked after. Meals can be served in the spacious open plan dining room, in the courtyard next to the boma and campfire, or on the front deck next to the trees and with the sound of the river in the background. Whichever you opt for, the food will be freshly prepared and full of African flavours.
There is a generously sized heated infinity pool on the deck of Morukuru River House, which overlooks the trees and the river beyond. Aside from swimming and relaxing here, guests will also want to take full advantage of their location in the stunning Madikwe Game Reserve. River House has a private game drive vehicle and guide so guests can experience drives tailored to their exact preferences and desires, and with Madikwe home to the Big Five, wild dogs and over 350 bird species, they won't go home disappointed. Bush walks and fishing safaris are also offered and the Madikwe Hide, located next to the water's edge, is the perfect spot for an evening wildlife spotting, or a sleepover for the more adventurous.
Children are presented with a Morukuru Kidz Backpack upon arrival, and throughout their stay will be encouraged to indulge in a range of child-specific activities, from spoor tracking lessons, to mini bush walks.
