Belmond Mount Nelson leads the ranks of Cape Town’s most popular places to stay. Aptly named the Pink Lady, its beaming tone makes the hotel stand out at the foot of Table Mountain.

Mount Nelson's sense of class emanates throughout the property and each of the 198 rooms are seamlessly decorated with simple, elegant furniture. There is a little something for everyone, from inter-connecting rooms to luxury suites and cottages, the majority of which offer views out over either the hotel gardens or Table Mountain.

There are two great restaurants, the Planet Restaurant which is the essence of Belmond's contemporary style with crystal balls gracing the entrance and an intergalactic theme twinkling throughout. Chef Rudi Liebenberg creates innovative menus featuring local ingredients and fresh seafood. The Oasis Bistro on the other hand is a more laid back affair, serving Cape-Malay specials in a bright and cosy setting. The afternoon teas here are legendary, and we mean eye-wateringly good! If that's not enough food-spiration you can also choose to have a picnic lunch in the grounds.

Whether you are travelling solo, coupled up or with the whole entourage, Mount Nelson can facilitate all. Let therapists coax your body into submission with a massage or lounge by either of the hotel's two swimming pools (although the more secluded over 16s pool will tempt the seasoned fly and floppers). There is a fantastic Kid's Club with a full programme of group activities from cricket matches and swimming, to treasure hunts, face painting and much more.

The Mount Nelson has a great central location for exploring the area, being just 15 minutes from the trendy beaches of Camps Bay and Clifton, 10 minutes from the waterfront and 20 minutes from the famous Constantia vineyards... to name just a few. But when it comes to restaurants and bars, you have a selection of the city's best right on your doorstep, making it an ideal base for a family with grown up kids as it is wonderfully easy for them to sample the amazing local night life! This really is the trendiest part of town.
