Butterfly House is a chic beach front hotel. Located on the Maraú Peninsula surrounded by vast beaches, wildlife, freshwater lakes and World Heritage-listed rain-forests, it is the perfect place to retreat to.
Guests who stumble across this gem can either sleep in one of three individually decorated suites in the main house, or alternatively there are five bungalows dotted around the grounds. Popularly dubbed as an eco-chic property, designs throughout the main lodge and bungalows are all tastefully eclectic, combined with jungle style thatched roofs and low key verandas for soaking up the tropical location.
Butterfly House is every foodie's fantasy with restaurant Anna Banana, hosted by Brazilian chef Elias Feitosa, serving a creation of seasonally inspired dishes, with Asian, French and Brazilian flavours. Anna Banana and the bar are great spots for a cocktail or two and to get to know other fellow guests. Breakfasts at Butterfly house are also pretty fab with a huge selection of fresh fruits, juices, pastries and much more...a perfect way to shake off the previous night's caipirinhas.
For relaxation, guests are in a prime position for stretches of Bahia coast line, tropical gardens to kick back and read a book. Should guests want to cool off the swimming pool is also rather inviting.
However for a more active pursuit there is a range of activities on offer from hidden waterfall treks, surfing, snorkelling and diving trips, paddle boarding and a particular favourite - trips to secret islands (a seafood lunch is a must).
Why we love it
This place is ultimate eco-luxury with everything from bathroom products to meal ingredients being ethically sourced.
