Twyfelfontein, in northern Namibia, roughly translates as the ‘Hesitant Fountain’ or the ‘Fountain of Doubt’, depending on the translation, and is home to one of the most prominent archaeological sites in southern Africa. During your stay, you will be guided through the surrounding desert landscape to reach Twyfelfontein and see the testimonies left in stone by the region’s hunter-gatherers. These engravings and petroglyphs representing animals and human silhouettes date back around 10,000 years, and show the evolution of style and subjects until about 1000 AD. This exceptional site was even designated
as Namibia’s first World Heritage site by UNESCO in 2007. During your trip to Twyfelfontein, you can also visit the nearby site of the Petrified Forest of Damaraland.
