Five star service? Check - Calabash Hotel allows you to savour breakfast on your private balcony, attended by your personal maid. Gourmet dining? Check - one of the hotel’s restaurants is headed up by celebrity chef Gary Rhodes. Swathes of white sandy beaches? Check - this is Grenada.
Alexandra is here to help give you the inside track.
Calabash Hotel's 30 beautiful suites and five luxury villas are set in a horseshoe shape in eight acres of tropical gardens, providing the utmost privacy and maximised sea views. Each suite features walk-in wardrobes, a flat screen TV, iPod docking system and either a balcony or patio to enjoy your private dressing-gown-clad breakfast and Caribbean vistas. For the crème de la crème, it's the villas you're after, complete with private pool and up to five bedrooms for groups of family or friends.
With all that decadence and local spice, you'd expect cuisine bold in both flavour and in creativity, and you'd be right. Bash Restaurant by Mark B serves lunch, tapas bites and cocktails from the idyllic location of white sandy L'anse Aux Epines Beach. When it comes to dinner, sample Rhodes Restaurant headed up by, you guessed it, UK Celebrity chef Gary Rhodes serving sumptuous dinners bursting with local ingredients and flavours.
Please note there's plenty of opportunity to work up an appetite with the hotel's large swimming pool, well-equipped fitness centre, flood-lit tennis courts as well as Grenada Golf Club and water sports such as windsurfing and snorkelling right on your doorstep. Spectacularly perched on the hillside, the wow factor has to go to the Heaven and Earth Spa, with its open air treatment rooms overlooking the bay below. If you can tear yourself away from the confines of your tropical enclave of lounging and rum sipping, you'll find waterfalls sprouting from the rainforests and hot springs flowing from volcanic craters.
