Matetsi River Lodge holds a coveted location on the banks of the Zambezi River amidst 50,000 hectares of private wildlife reserve. With exceptional views of the fourth-longest river in Africa this little lodge offers a rich and exclusive game viewing experience for all.
There are 18 river facing suites at Matetsi River Lodge, including two family suites. Light and airy interiors add a contemporary touch to the décor whilst the local abstract art and woven patterns pay homage to Zimbabwe's rich heritage. For families and groups of friends travelling, the Matetsi River House can be taken exclusively and offers four spacious rooms with ensuite bathrooms, floor to ceiling windows, a swimming pool, and chef and butler service.
Dining at the lodge can be enjoyed Al fresco beneath a canopy of waterberry trees or in one of the many alternate guest areas, but the real trump card has to be the private dinners which are romantically lantern-lit and set in the shallows of the river (accompanied by the sounds of serenading wildlife).
The lodge boasts a range of facilities including a relaxing massage Sala for those wishing to unwind, a 75 ft pool and a fitness centre. In the evening, guests can congregate by the fire pit to share stories of the days game sightings and enjoy a glass of wine from the extensive cellar. Located within a private reserve, there is an abundance of things to do in the area too. Guests can enjoy game spotting on the plains, adventure filled bush walks, sundowner boat cruises down the Zambezi and guided tours of UNESCO site Victoria Falls, which lies only 45 minutes away.
If there was an award for 'best view from a bathtub', then the Matetsi River Lodge wins hands down.
