Raised on decks and nestled among ancient trees on a small island in the northern reaches of the Okavango Delta, the intimate camp of Little Vumbura offers just what you’d expect from a classic Botswana safari: accessed only by boat, you’ll find canopied roofs, dinner by lantern-light and – most importantly – beautiful views across the Delta.

Six rooms proudly make up this camp; the little sister of nearby Vumbura Plains. Each tent is spacious with en suite bathrooms, draped four-poster beds and roll-up sides to maximise the views across the surrounding floodplains. Guest tents are connected to the main lounge and dining area by raised decking.

There are plenty of opportunities to witness the great African beasts in the flesh accompanied by experienced guides, whether on land by open 4x4s or along the Delta by motor boat or traditional mokoro. Lion, leopard, elephant, cheetah and buffalo all roam this land along with all the plains animals and many species of birdlife. If that wasn't enough, the immediate Vumbura area is rumoured to be the only area in the Okavango where one can see the Red Lechwe and Sable antelope on the same outing, making for the ultimate Okavango Delta experience.

When the early morning safari excursions begin to take their toll - it's a tough life - Little Vumbura has a plunge pool and massages can even be arranged on request. No English spa can mimic that kind of relaxation. After dinner, take your sundowners up to the star deck over the water and listen to the many sounds of night on the Delta.
